Climate change: Gas phase-out proposed to help Victoria meet new climate targets

Advertisement Gas appliances including heaters, hot water services and cooktops would be phased out under a proposed moratorium on new gas connections to Victorian households to help the state achieve its 2030 target to cut carbon emissions by up to 50 per cent. The City of Yarra is the first council to pledge to switch its buildings, including pools and community centres, from gas to renewable electricity by 2030 and wants the state government to back a ban on gas connections in new homes. On the Town: Warning – Nunsense may be habit-forming – The Journal Record

On the Town: Warning – ‘Nunsense’ may be habit-forming By: Lillie-Beth Brinkman The Journal Record April 22, 2021 Lillie-Beth Brinkman The “Nunsense” title alone lends itself to the description that Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma used to promote its latest production that opened Wednesday night at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City. “‘Nunsense’ is habit-forming,” the news release stated, and the production lived up to that with lots of nun and light-hearted Catholic jokes, a zany storyline and, of course, in Lyric’s usual style, a very talented cast, all women. So, if we need to talk to a duck to get it off the stage, it s totally fine. We can do that.

Day became the second black female ever to win the best actress in a drama award following her film portrayal of Billie Holiday. Poway’s Ashley Wells got a bit of air time, as well. She co-starred in a controversial, pushing-the-envelope commercial that aired during the three-hour broadcast. “Was that you?” texted a former University City High School classmate after it aired. “Were you lactating on national TV?” Yes, she was, Wells confirmed. She was breastfeeding one of her twin babies in front of an international TV audience.
