More than 35,000 people in Massachusetts have started the COVID-19 vaccination process, according to the state s new vaccine dashboard, released for the first time Thursday along with the weekly community-level metrics on the pandemic.
The numbers, from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, have been increasing steadily for weeks, as have coronavirus case totals, amid a new surge that has intensive care beds in short supply at some hospitals. (See this week s full red zone list below.)

The weekly town-by-town report includes a breakdown of the total number of coronavirus cases in each Massachusetts city and town, transmission rates, data on clusters and more.
Battle Area Community Transport was due to resume services next Monday (January 4).
But in a statement it said it was suspending its bus services until further notice.
The group provides bus services centred on Battle, Burwash and Ticehurst, travelling to: Ashburnham, Battle, Brede, Broad Oak, Etchingham, Flimwell, Mountfield, Robertsbridge, Netherfield, Sedlescombe, Stonegate, Ticehurst and Westfield.
Coronavirus
In March it suspended all of its services de to the coronavirus pandemic and resumed some routes in September.
In its statement, the group said: “The Board of Directors of Battle Area Community Transport have taken the decision that all of our bus services will be suspended until further notice.

GARDNER A vote on who will succeed Mass. House Speaker Bob DeLeo reportedly could take place as early as Tuesday. However, DeLeo who has been in talks to take a position at Northeastern University must first submit his letter of resignation, after which the members of the Democratic caucus will meet to name their nominee for Speaker.
Independent state Rep. Susannah Whipps, a former Republican who now caucuses with the Democrats, has said she will support House majority leader Ron Mariano of Quincy for the Speakership. Mariano is being challenged by Rep. Russell Holmes of Mattapan.
