Efficient students
Since the students have been promoted to the higher streams based on the present stream minus the previous two years, therefore I would like to suggest to the authorities concerned to think off and develop such a mechanism which can justify a students promotion to the next level. Can we think of such an assessment system by covering all the subjects he/she has covered to reach such a standard by providing equal marks plus-minus with a certain number along with an assignment/project presentation with direct/indirect communication? The system may help select/assess the students concerned for their next level of eligibility. Hope the authority concerned will give a thought on the matter of students assessment.

Unpardonable crime
The attack on a duty doctor at Udali in the Hojai district should raise the eyebrows of the people. Udali (Lanka) is allegedly full of Bangladeshi infiltrators. The place is a hotbed of people allegedly involved in poaching, lootings, drug peddling, etc. The audacity with which these people took law on their hands that too on a son of the soil is alarming. They have become fearless because they know big forces (Congress, AIUDF, Leftists, intellectuals, AAMSU, Raijor Dol, TMC, Asauddinn Owaisi, etc) are behind them. The young doctor was bashed up due to no fault of his, but thankfully everything was recorded on the mobile phone otherwise the mob would have played the victim card and the entire brigade mentioned above would have bumped over police and the government. The brigade would have blamed everything on PM Modi calling it his conspiracy to defame them.

COVID hits rural India
The surge of COVID-19 cases in rural India is a matter of grave concern. The reason is the reverse migration of workers from the metro cities of the country to the villages and not adhering to the COVID safeguards. The basic healthcare facilities are available in the villages of the country and this medical infrastructure is not capable of dealing with COVID patients. In such a situation, the patients have to move to the cities for treatment. States need to take effective steps to curb the cases in rural areas. Strict lockdowns in villages and boosting of healthcare facilities should be considered.

Takeaways from election results
The biggest takeaway from the results of the Assam Assembly elections is that people are not ready to accept the regionalism brand of politics which was aggressively pushed by the two newly floated political parties – AJP and Raijor Dol. The voters cannot be blamed for this scepticism of the regional brand of politics given the dismal past performance of the mascot of regional politics, the AGP, which is now a divided house. The voters saw in the leaders of the two hurriedly-formed parties the greed for power as the prime motive for forming the parties as both parties failed to project before the electorate a united front and a credible agenda not confined to just a few emotive issues.
