Twinnie Twinnie One…

Twinnie Twinnie One… Matt Pruett Link copied to clipboard Twin-fins. Everybody wants one these days. Well, not everybody. But everybody who feels like they’ve pushed their go-to thruster to its (or their own) logical limits and are searching for a different groove. And if you get the right one, and ride it how it’s meant to be ridden, that groove can be faster and more radical than you ever imagined. Ask Mikey February, who’s been pushing the cutting edge of high-performance surfing on twin-fins harder than most evident in his blistering-hot Indonesia edits. Better yet, ask his shaper, Channel Islands’ Britt Merrick, who developed the Twin Pin design with Mikey via Zoom calls, due to the surfer being locked down in South Africa for the pandemic.

Easier Waters: The Swell Tones Down

Out Of Nowhere, The Goldie Lights Up

Out Of Nowhere, The Goldie Lights Up And Kirra turns on a half day of real gold. Kirra, 11am just a few in the water. What a day. Photo: Andrew Shield. Nick Carroll Link copied to clipboard Nobody expected this. After three days of wonky onshores and a half-formed east swell, perfect Kirra just didn’t seem like it was on the radar. When photographer Andrew Shield drove by just before sunrise, he says, “Kirra wasn’t even breaking. It was high tide and super fat.” Mr Style, Asher Pacey, was one of the earlier arrivals. Photo: Shield. Shieldsy kept driving, up to Snapper, and found it around three to four feet and also fat with that early high tide. “I thought, oh well, I’ll be shooting guys doing turns at Snapper.”

Asher Pacey Maxes Out the Style Meter In Morocco

Staff It’s more than a slightly tweaked back knee or the gentle twist of an outstretched arm; more than just a soul arch with hands clasped delicately behind the back. It’s more than a casual high line on a long, glassy, running point break and more than a flick of the tail off the lip. It’s all that put together; all that put together with something else. You can’t really describe style, but you know it when you see it. And we see it in Asher Pacey’s section for Logan Dulien’s up-coming film, Snapt4. We see it in spades. The clip above, which was filmed in Morocco on three different Album surfboards, consists of a handful of throw-away clips. The best of them, as you’ve likely guessed, have been put away for the film, which is set to be released this summer.
