Though she’s working hard to tear down inequity in the hospitality industry, D.C.-based bartender Kapri Robinson considers herself a builder. “If you’re creating something of your own [that] is naturally dismantling what you see is wrong, it’s taking away the energy of constantly shouting at a wall of white supremacy, racism, sexism, ageism all of the -isms,” the 28-year-old says. “Instead of just constantly yelling at that wall, create something that just naturally breaks it down.”
Chocolate City’s Best, a cocktail competition for bar professionals of color that Robinson founded three years ago, has grown into an educational hub and platform for mentorship, camaraderie, and connection. The 2021 London Wine Fair will host more than 30 online sessions over three days, including industry briefings, panel discussions and tasting masterclasses.
Visitors can now book Tasting Masterclasses to ensure samples arrive on time. Visitors can access exhibitor stands from May 10.
In excess of 500 wineries are set to be participating in the event, showing more than 3,000 different wines.

A Complete Guide to Whisky Taste and Flavour with WSET will be hosted by whisky journalist Becky Paskin and the WSET’s Charlie McCarthy.
The one-hour masterclass will be held on Wednesday 12 May at 3pm UTC.
The session will help participants understand the flavour profile of whisky and what influences it. The hosts will also offer some tips on communication.
In addition, the masterclass will feature a live whisky tasting of Johnnie Walker Black Label, Bulleit Bourbon and Roe & Co Irish whiskey.
