With Covid On The Way Out, Michigan County Fairs Are Returning
Last year Covid-19 wiped out the county fair tradition in Michigan, but in 2021 most county fairs in Michigan are expected to return in some form or fashion. Michigan in normal years hosts 86 county fairs. The Michigan Association of Fairs and Exhibitors says more than 4.5 million people attend county and state fairs yearly.
Brenda Smego, the executive secretary of the Cass County Fair Association, said she believes that most county fairs won’t be canceled this year based on recent Zoom meetings she’s attended with other fair officials. She also said that the Cass County Fair, established in 1851, is preparing for a traditional fair Aug. 1-7. Moving forward, Smego said that she believes it will feature attractions such as grandstand events, carnival rides and motocross. “I feel we are in a good position,” she said. “Changes are possible. It also depends on what’s going to happen.”

Rides and games coming to the NY State Fair Food Fest starting this week

Rides and games from Main Events Amusements will be featured this week at the expanded State Fair Food Fest at the New York state fairgrounds. This photo shows Main Events configuration for food, rides and games during the 2019 Comic Con at the fair. This year the rides will be distanced and there will be no Ferris wheel.

Central New York’s off-season State Fair Food Fest is growing this week into a full-fledged carnival.
That means the Giant Slide, The Scrambler, a kids’ rollercoaster and more are joining in the offerings of pizze frittes, gyros, deep-fried Oreos and wine slushies Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the State Fairgrounds.

Pizze frittes, sausage sandwiches, wine slushies and more return to the New York State Fairgrounds this weekend and next, and plans are in the works for an extended run with added features.
There is a change in the schedule for the event known as the State Fair Food Fest: The event runs 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week and next (for the past two weeks it was Thursday to Saturday).

Once again, Central New York has a wide variety of options for entertainment, both in-person and virtually, this weekend.
You can enjoy your favorite State Fair food this weekend at the State Fairgrounds and virtually participate in Central New York’s Home and Garden show.
If you want to get outdoors, the Wild Animal Park in Chittenango opens for its 11th year on Saturday and you can learn about the bees on New York State at the Great Swamp Conservancy.
