Entertaining choices abound this weekend in Central New York!
The Midway Drive-In opens for its 73rd consecutive season on Friday, there is a boat show at Sylvan Beach, free bowling for children under 15 at AMF Strike ‘N Spare, and a live lacrosse stick making demonstration at the MOST.
You also have another chance to see the Dino Safari at the State Fairgrounds and one final opportunity to view “I and You” virtually from Syracuse Stage.

Dino Safari, Onondaga Lake bird walk, racing at Fulton Speedway: 17 things to do in CNY

With weather forecasts promising a long overdue warm up, Central New Yorkers should be able to get outside and enjoy some fun, spring activities this weekend.
You can learn about Onondaga Lake bird species on a bird walk, visit a pop-up food truck event at the Inner Harbor, participate in the monthly Folksmarch at Breitbeck Park, and take in some exciting auto racing and demolition derbies at Fulton Speedway.
The Fairgrounds will be having a Dino Safari dinosaur drive-thru show and the family favorite baseball movie, “The Sandlot” will be shown on the big screen.

Rides and games from Main Events Amusements will be featured this week at the expanded State Fair Food Fest at the New York state fairgrounds. This photo shows Main Events configuration for food, rides and games during the 2019 Comic Con at the fair. This year the rides will be distanced and there will be no Ferris wheel.

Central New York’s off-season State Fair Food Fest is growing this week into a full-fledged carnival.
That means the Giant Slide, The Scrambler, a kids’ rollercoaster and more are joining in the offerings of pizze frittes, gyros, deep-fried Oreos and wine slushies Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the State Fairgrounds.

Happy Mother’s Day weekend!
There are many ways you can celebrate the day this year as things finally begin to appear to be returning to normal.
You can take your mom to Beak & Skiff’s for a lunchtime picnic, buy her some flowers at a sale at the Sangertown Mall, purchase her a virtual ticket for the new streaming Syracuse Stage play, “I and You,” or treat her with a State Fair snack at the Fairgrounds.
And baseball is back in Syracuse! The Mets are back in action at NBT Stadium all week against Scranton after a season away.

Pizze frittes, sausage sandwiches, wine slushies and more return to the New York State Fairgrounds this weekend and next, and plans are in the works for an extended run with added features.
There is a change in the schedule for the event known as the State Fair Food Fest: The event runs 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week and next (for the past two weeks it was Thursday to Saturday).
