41 fresh cases in Hassan Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA As many as 411 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in Hassan district on Tuesday. With that, the total number of COVID-19 cases increased to 32,676. Among them, 29,947 have recovered so far and 2,225 are under treatment. As many as 23 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. So far 504 people have died due to the infection. There were no deaths on the day. Of the fresh cases reported, 170 are from Hassan taluk, 74 from Arsikere, 34 from Alur, 36 from Belur, 22 from Sakleshpur, 21 each from Holenarsipur and Araalgud, 30 from Channarayapatna and three from other districts.

Five more die in Hassan Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Five more people succumbed to COVID-19 in Hassan on Monday and with that, the total number of deaths crossed 500. So far 504 people have died in the district. On Monday, 329 fresh cases were reported, increasing the total number of cases to 32,265. So far 29,859 have recovered and 1,902 are under treatment. Of them, 23 are in the intensive care unit. Among the fresh cases, 133 are from Hassan taluk, 54 in Arsikere, 51 from Channarayapatna taluk, 34 in Arkalgud, 23 in Belur, 16 in Holenarsipur, 10 in Sakleshpur, seven in Alur and one from other district. The district administration has appealed to all those aged above 45 to get vaccinated and follow the COVID-19 guidelines. The police and other government officials are imposing a penalty on those who violate the guidelines in public places. Senior officers are visiting marriage halls to ensure the public maintain social distance and wear face masks to avoid infectio

Level of Srisailam reservoir has touched 808 ft against full reservoir level of 885 ft. Water availability is just 33.59 TMC, only 15 percent of total storage capacity. Nagarjunasagar, downstream of Srisailam, has storage of just 191.05 TMC against 312 TMC capacity. Priyadarshini Jurala and Tungabhadra each have mere 3.98 TMC of water.

Shashi Kumar has suspended head constable Srilata, who was among the 130 persons arrested by the Hassan police following a raid on a private homestay near K. Hoskote in Alur taluk on April 10 night. A rave party was in progress at the homestay. Mr. Kumar told reporters that Ms. Srilata worked in the Economic and Narcotics Crime Police Station in Mangaluru. She has been accused of misusing her position to claim before the Hassan police that she was an ASI attached to Mangaluru’s Central Crime Branch. The Hassan police arrested and released her following bail given at the police station.

The accused cop, Srilatha, is attached to the Economic Offences and Narcotics police station in Mangaluru. She has now been placed under suspension for reportedly participating in the rave party organised at an estate on the outskirts of Alur taluk in Hassan district on April 10. She, along with her son went to a rave party. When there was a raid, she misused her power. She also claimed to be from the city crime branch department, Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar on Saturday said.
