Emmanuel Remi Aiyede is Professor of Political Institutions, Governance and Public Policy in the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan. He is the current Head, Department of Political Science (01 August 2020), former Sub-Dean, Faculty of the Social Sciences (2012-2014) and former Coordinator, Leadership and Governance Programme (2010- 2014), Centre for Sustainable Development, University of Ibadan. He was also Visiting Scholar, The Electoral Institute, Independent National Electoral Commission, Abuja (2016-2017), and Visiting Fellow, Transregional Centre for Democratic Studies (TCDS) New School University, New York, 2000. He began his career as a Fellow at the Governance Unit of the Development Policy Centre (DPC), an independent think tank in Ibadan in 1998, after a brief stint in journalism. What are the similarities and differences we find between ancient and contemporary forms of belonging? Since the turn of the millennium, the oil-rich Gulf city-states have emerged as global nodes of finance, migration, architecture, education and culture in a hyper-mediatized world. In her talk, Rania Maktabi reflects on meanings of citizenship and what ‘sustainability’ implies in a transnational context. Her main focus is how education and architecture represent fundamental venues for molding new forms of global Muslim identities – both religious and secular – which are exclusive and inclusive in intricate ways.
The talk is part of the Joint Lecture Series, a joint initiative of AKU-ISMC and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture’s Education Programme; the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat and the Aga Khan Museum are also organizing partners this year. This event is presented by AKU-ISMC’s Governance Programme.
She said that the purpose of the workshop was to train media personnel on the trajectories of Public Finance Management (PFM) in other to enhance effective reporting on matters of Gender Responsive Public Service delivery and Public Finance accountability.
According to her, the capacity building is in line with AAN’s country strategy on promoting a transparent and accountable public finance management system that supports effective gender responsive public service delivery for citizens.
“The training will feature overview of Nigerian Fiscal Policies; Gender Responsive Public Service: ActionAid’s perspectives; budget, participatory budgeting and the budgetary process in Nigeria; concept of gender responsive budgeting and application tools and the role of citizens in the budget process.

Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) leader and Deputy Prime Minister Kelemen Hunor said that in the governance programme there are provisions regarding the adoption of a law on minorities and the lowering of the threshold below which the Hungarian language can be used in the relation with the public authorities, adding that 20% of the population of a locality is a too high threshold.
The UDMR Chairman added that the content of any of these topics has not yet been discussed in the ruling Coalition. In the governing programme, there is a chapter for minorities and many provisions in other chapters - education, culture and so on - and one thing is said there: the Law on National Minorities will be adopted as provided by the Romanian Constitution - which has not happened so far. (.) This is what it says in the governance programme and this is what it says in the Constitution, and it has been assumed by the Coalition that we will
