Alvin Barfield, 46, was taken into custody in January in connection to the murder of Albert Carter Woolfolk who was fatally stabbed over 20 times and later strangled in his home after leaving a bar with three men, WJCL reported.
An 18-year-old cold case was reopened after Georgia detectives used fingerprints to lead them to a suspect in South Carolina, according to police. COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A Columbus cold case is going before a judge 17 years later.
The suspect in the murder of Albert Woolfolk made his first appearance in court Friday.
Woolfolk was found stabbed to death in his home July 18, 2003. According to police, the accused killer, Alvin Barfield, said he didn’t know Woolfolk and had never been to his home. Police said evidence found in the home had Barfield’s fingerprints on it, linking him to the crime.

A judge on Friday declined to set bail for Alvin Barfield, 46, refusing arguments from the defense that Barfield, who s charged with murder, was not a flight risk due to his cooperation with detectives.
