Active and retired police officers, elected officials and other residents gathered at Althea Scatliffe Primary School on Monday night for a public consultation about the proposed Police Act 2019.Â
The law was last revised in 1991, and if the proposed new version is passed by the House of Assembly, it will give officers powers that many of the top brass say are necessary to modernise the force.

Our beloved mother, grand “Mommy Ann”, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and mentor was born on September 24, 1935 in Brady, Texas when her uncle Dr. Glenn Ricks delivered her into the hands of her parents Alwin James “A.J.” Ricks and Eva Virginia Harris Ricks.
Ann’s life-long passion was focused on children – serving as Kindergarten teacher for 16 years, Associate Professor of Early Childhood for 28 years, and owner CEO of Little Dude Ranch for 46 years. Ann leaves a remarkable and lasting legacy which will continue to inspire her family, friends, colleagues and former students who will treasure many memories.
