Investigation underway after 10 animals found dead on Alpine farm

ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) The Sheriff s Department is investigating the deaths of ten farm animals in the East County Friday.
Around 8:00 a.m. deputies with the Alpine Sheriff s Substation responded 400 block of Peutz Valley Road in Alpine. When deputies arrived the livestock was found dead in an animal pen on the property. The livestock consisted of lambs, goats and a ram.
The incident is being investigated as a felony animal cruelty case, deputies said. Lt. Anthony O Boyle declined to comment in detail on how the animals may have died.

Salzburg, Austria A young cow that fled from a slaughterhouse will get to spend the rest of her days on an animal farm project in Germany and live a peaceful life with her herd.
The incident took place on Dec 24, when a woman saw a cow escaping from the slaughterhouse and venturing out in the open. In an effort to give a new life to Lieni, she called the animal charity Gut Aiderbichl an Alpine Farm on the outskirts of the Austrian city of Salzburg and informed them about her presence.
