I rolled up to Albertville High about an hour before game time March 12.
As a senior citizen, a ripe old 66, it was a no-brainer where I was heading first. Nope, it wasnât the gym. I had to find a restroom after my hourâs drive from Huntsville.
That mission completed. I drove around the school and found a parking spot in front of the gymnasium. The games were already underway for the state 12-and-under basketball tournament March 12-14.
The Redstone team had a great start in pool play with a 44-12 win over Hamilton. But the next day proved disappointing.

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - It’s no secret that many people have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic!
But to lend a helping hand to students in need, staff members at Albertville High School have created a food pantry.
The Aggie Food Pantry was created in 2019 at Albertville High School.
Albertville High School Math Teacher Caitlin Dickerson said she saw a need and wanted to provide students with extra resources.
