Clermont man arrested on weapons charges connected to 2019 murder

CLERMONT Police have arrested a man on a weapons charge in connection to a 2019 homicide that must have looked like a scene in a movie if his sensational story is accurate. Jose M. Zeno, 26, of Clermont, was arrested Wednesday and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police on Jan. 23 of that year responded to the calls of several witnesses at Sundance Apartments of “several gun shots fired, screaming, yelling and tires screeching away,” according to court records. One witness told police that a car normally parked in the space where the shooting took place was missing. While trying to track down the resident who parked there, police got a call that a man had gone to the sheriff’s substation wanting to turn himself in.
