Mar 1, 2021 Subscribe to our daily newsletter! Sign Up A team of fitters from the UK is in Alderney to put together its new harbour crane and should be able to start work tomorrow when the island enters stage two of the exit from lockdown. While islanders will be able to enjoy more freedom, some restrictions will remain in place. Restaurants, pubs, cafes and hotels can open, but only those that can provide table service. Non-essential retailers can open, too, and construction sites can also operate, within strict guidelines. Businesses must keep records to show that they are working to a clear plan under the Covid-19 restrictions and the guidance from Public Health.

Vulnerable islanders in Alderney could get Oxford vaccine today | Channel

A special sitting was called this morning (11 January) and jabs are expected to start this afternoon. The first doses of the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine arrived in the island over the weekend. It was delivered to the Island Medical Centre and unlike the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine, it does not need to be stored at ultra low temperatures, so can be transported to the smaller islands of the Bailiwick.

Single Property Tax to go up by 3% in Alderney | Channel

Friday December 11, 2020, 5:51 AM The new tax replaces the current Tax on Real Property (TRP), set by Guernsey, and Occupiers Rates, set by Alderney. Credit: ITV Channel TV Alderney s new single property tax will see a 3% increase in payments from January, despite a previous promise of no increase. Currently, islanders pay both Tax on Real Property (TRP), set by Guernsey, and Occupiers Rates, set by Alderney. Guernsey s system of TRP is based on a building s size to determine its tax rate. As of January, the Single Property Tax system will allow Alderney s politicians to adjust the rates on businesses and domestic properties themselves. It means Tax on Real Property and Occupiers rates will be combined and billed as a Single Property Tax.
