Bobby Lane said he missed quite a few flipping bites on the second day of the Group B qualifying round, but he nonetheless caught enough to top the group by a margin of more than 24 pounds.
By MLF Communications Staff Bobby Lane of Lakeland, Florida, boated 14 bass weighing 34-02 to hold off a hard-charging Ott DeFoe of Blaine, Tennessee, and win the two-day Group B Qualifying Round at the Harris Chain MLF Bass Pro Tour event in Leesburg, Florida. After Lane started the day with a 24-pound lead, DeFoes massive rally had him within 8 pounds early in the second period, but Lane pulled away in the third and prevailed with a two-day total of 39 bass weighing 102-06.

By MLF Communications Staff After a back-and-forth battle at the top of the leaderboard during Period 1, Bobby Lane of Lakeland, Florida, surged ahead in Period 2 of Group B s initial qualifying day at the Harris Chain Bass Pro Tour in his home state. Lane caught a total of 25 including a pair of 6-pounders and several 4s to lead the group with 68-04.
He ended the day with a 24-pound advantage over 2nd-place David Walker of Sevierville, Tennessee, who caught 14 bass weighing 44-04. Keith Poche of Pike Road, Alabama, sits 3-12 behind Walker, ending the day in 3rd place with 15 bass weighing 40-08.

The final 10 anglers are now set, and competition will resume Wednesday morning with the Championship Round. Weights are zeroed, and the angler that catches the most weight will win the top prize of $100,000. The six-day tournament, hosted by the Austin Sports Commission, featured 80 of the top professional anglers from around the world competing for a purse of $805,000, including a top cash prize of $100,000 to the winner.
