Michael Oleksyn/Daily Herald The Prince Albert Celtic Under-17 boys’ team faced off with a combined Under-15 and Under-17 side from North Battleford on Saturday, June 26 as part of the Prince Albert Youth Soccer Association’s club day event.
The end of the 2021 spring soccer season for the Prince Albert Youth Soccer Association also marked the return of competitive action for their Celtic programs.
In their first games against teams from other cities since the COVID-19 pandemic started last March, clubs from Warman, North Battleford and Saskatoon came up to Prince Albert to play the Celtic squads over the course of two weekends in June.

The city allocated $100,000 for the new playground in this years budget, plus $30,000 for additional items like benches and new lighting.
The Crescent Acres site was among four identified as top priorities for replacement in a 2019 inventory of the city’s playgrounds. While the Lions Park playground in West Flat was replaced last year, the play structure at Little Red River Park has already been removed and will be replaced as part of the Rotary Adventure Park planned there. Yeaman said the Rotary Adventure Park is in the final stages of design and will hopefully be open to the public by July 2022.
The City of Prince Albert is urging participation from residents in a 10-day activity challenge with a big potential pay-off.
The community that logs the most minutes of physical activity during the 2021 Saskatchewan Blue Cross Go Out & Play Challenge will win $10,000. The competition runs from March 1 to 10.
“We need everyone to help us win,” the city said in a media release. “If you walk, ski or toboggan at Little Red River Park, work out at the Alfred Jenkins Field House or Margo Fournier Centre, swim at the Frank J. Dunn Pool, walk on the Rotary Trail or [do] any physical activity from March 1 to 10 we need you to register and record your minutes of activity daily.”
