LEESBURG, VA Virginia Tire & Auto has opened their 18th location at The Shops at Russell Branch, a new shopping center in southeast Leesburg. Though there are several Virginia Tire & Auto stores throughout Loudoun County, this is the first in Leesburg. We have been providing car care in Ashburn, Virginia, for over 25 years, so we are excited to offer a new, more convenient location for our Leesburg customers, Virginia Tire & Auto Co-CEO Julie Holmes said. We ve been receiving requests to open a store in Leesburg for years, so we re thrilled to finally be expanding our services to this area.
DURHAM Oyster River High School senior Maggie Sperry was dressed up in a black, sparkly, full-length gown. This is the dress I was supposed to wear last year, Sperry said Wednesday night. I was on the prom committee and then it was canceled. Everyone was skeptical about a prom on the field, but this is nice. At least it s something.
Oyster River High School juniors and seniors gathered outside, on the school s turf field, Wednesday to celebrate what was cleverly called a Mask-erade, instead of a prom.
Sperry said she feels she has lost half of her senior year because of COVID-19. Her friend Matteo Caruccio said they all have lost so much.
DURHAM From a 10-acre field known as Osgood Farm in the early 1960s to a proposed large-scale Mill Plaza redevelopment project today, commerce and concern have collided at the corner of Mill Road and Main Street for years.
Mill Plaza’s unfinished story – played out in Town Council, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Planning Board meetings, and even in court – involves elements that normally influence proposed commercial developments everywhere: Its effect on nearby residential neighborhoods, on traffic, on parking, on the environment, and on the general character of the community.
For the residents who have followed this saga – Joshua Meyrowitz, Andrew Kun, Nell Neal and many others – the plaza over the years represents an opportunity unfulfilled, a promise unkept.
