England’s Euro 2020 game against the Czech Republic is approaching the 15th minute and Harry Maguire has touched the ball 43 times. With his 44th touch, Maguire does something for the first time: he passes the ball to Luke Shaw.
That was one of only seven passes from England’s left-sided central defender to England’s left-back on Tuesday. For some context, Maguire played 80 minutes in that position (he moved to the right when Tyrone Mings replaced John Stones) and completed 62 passes in total during England’s 1-0 victory.
That means about 11 percent of his passes ended up at Shaw’s feet. In fact, Maguire made more passes to the England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford than the full-back who spent the majority of the game outside him.

Everton vs Sheffield United

Everton are back at Goodison Park for the penultimate time this season knowing that a dramatic improvement in their home form could yet carry them into Europe.
In what looks likely to be the last match played inside an empty Old Lady before 6,500 Evertonians are welcome back on Wednesday, the Blues take on the bottom club, Sheffield United, searching for their first win on their own turf since they triumphed over Southampton on 1st March.

Everton’s hopes of European qualification hang by a thread as they host relegated Sheffield United at Goodison Park on Sunday.
With three games to go, the Blues need an upturn in home form for a start, having won just once in the league on their own turf in 2021.
And after Thursday’s goalless draw at Aston Villa left them eighth, they surely must beat the rock-bottom Blades, who beat Marco Silva’s Everton 2-0 at Goodison at the start of last season.
