Escalona announced that Devontay Jerrod Hutt, 25, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Annemarie Carney Axon. Hutt pleaded guilty in January of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing a machine gun. Each count will be served concurrently with the other. According to court documents, on Dec. 31, 2019, Hutt had an encounter with Tuscaloosa police officers at a restaurant. Officers said they received a tip that Hutt had a firearm. When officers arrived at the restaurant, Hutt and another individual fled, eluding officers during a foot chase.
