(WECT) - New developments Thursday in the ongoing debate between the Town of Carolina Beach and New Hanover County after inspectors from New Hanover County took to Carolina Beach at the behest of County Chairwoman Julia Olson-Boseman. Chief of the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal Brian Taylor emailed WECT a statement today saying he got a call from Carolina Beach Fire Chief Alan Griffin after Griffin first learned the county was coming down to do their own inspections at the fire scene â something the Fire Marshal says isnât allowed unless the town asks for their involvement.

WECT INVESTIGATES: Carolina Beach officials claim county overstepped jurisdiction in condo fire investigation, allege possible ethics violations By Michael Praats | April 12, 2021 at 2:50 PM EDT - Updated April 12 at 5:28 PM CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) - The actions of New Hanover County Board of Commissioners Chair Julia Olson-Boseman are being questioned by the Town of Carolina Beach after she allegedly directed the county manager to instruct county staff to conduct an investigation into the recent condominium fire in Carolina Beach. But Carolina Beach officials say county staff were acting outside of their jurisdiction to do so, however, the county disagrees. There are also ethical questions regarding the actions since, according to the emails, Olson-Boseman, who is an attorney, said she was legally representing some of the fire victims.

(WECT) - The Carolina Beach Bar Club organized a fundraising event for two victims of the Paradise Cove fire who lost everything. The funds raised will be used to help local residents Callie Ryan and Chad Jeffrey, who lost everything in last Friday’s fire, including pets. The event is today, April 10th, from 12 p.m.- 5 p.m. at The Last Resort in Carolina Beach.
