Gauchos Win Blue-Green Rivalry Game in Energetic Late Comeback

The Gauchos came out on top with two late goals for a 2-1 win that brought a spark of life to what started out as a slow contest. The Gauchos started their first home game since the 2019 season off strong with multiple shots from senior forward Ameyawu Muntari and junior midfielder Thaabit Baartman within the first 10 minutes of play. The Gauchos dominated possession and kept most of the play on the Cal Poly side in the first half, aside from a number of counters from the Mustangs. The first shot on goal for the Gauchos came from right-back Rigoberto Barragan with a bent, left-foot shot outside the 18-yard box met relatively comfortably with a diving save from the Cal Poly keeper.

Fatality Crash in the 3000 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard Svrd SB

Deceased:    Alan Carrillo | Hispanic male | January 6, 1986 An Austin police officer was driving southbound on Ed Bluestein Boulevard when he passed by the construction area in the 3000 block and noted an oddly-positioned vehicle against a concrete wall. Upon approach, the officer realized the vehicle had been involved in a crash. He located the sole occupant, Alan Carillo, and found no pulse. He immediately began CPR until Austin Fire Department personnel arrived to take over. Alan Carrillo was transported by Austin-Travis County EMS to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 10:43 p.m.

Man killed in East Austin crash identified, is 93rd traffic death in 2020

A man killed last month in an East Austin crash has been identified as 34-year-old Alan Carrillo and was the 93rd person to die in Austin traffic last year, police said. An Austin police officer on Dec. 29 around 9:48 p.m. was driving south in the 3000 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard, near Boggy Creek, when he noticed a vehicle in an odd position near a construction site. The vehicle was up against a concrete wall. The officer found Carrillo inside the vehicle, which appeared to have been involved in a crash, police said. Carrillo had no pulse and the officer started CPR until Austin fire crews arrived. Carrillo was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center by medics.
