A SIGN designed to stop speeding drivers in their tracks has been erected in North Baddesley following a spate of complaints lodged by residents. The speed limiter is now up and running in Rownhams Lane after it was installed two weeks ago , according to Cllr Alan Dowden, who represents the Baddesley ward on Hampshire County Council (HCC). The community leader offered North Baddesley Parish Council £1,500 to help buy two speed limiters after residents complained vehicles were speeding down Rownhams Lane, Rownhams Road, Middle Road, and Firgrove Road. Mr Dowden, who donated the money from his County Council Community Grant Scheme, believes the speeding signs will help prevent accidents happening in the village.
A COMMUNITY has rallied behind a man after his allotment was targeted in an arson attack just days before Christmas. Police officers were alerted to the blaze in Nutburn Road, North Baddesley, after a shed was torched and windows in a greenhouse were smashed. It is believed the attack happened sometime between 8.30pm and 11pm on Saturday, December 19. Well-wishers have already donated £1,180 to help Paul Batty rebuild his plot, which he would have been forced to give up without their help. In a message on the GoFundMe page, created by his daughter Chanece Batty, Paul revealed he has started to rebuild his plot by buying a new security camera to replace the old one that burnt in the fire.
