Network to lobby for green investments launched

A network seeking to address environmental degradation in the country through attracting green investments in various sectors was launched in Kampala on Friday last week.
Called the Inclusive Green Economy Network - East Africa (IGEN-EA), the network is comprises Ugandan and East African civil society and private sector leaders from the clean renewable energy, small-scale agriculture, tourism, fisheries and agro-forestry sectors.

May 19, 2021 A section of cleared Bugoma forest reserve
Uganda Law Society (ULS) and two civil society organisations have filed another petition challenging the planned giveaway of part of Bugoma forest reserve in Kikuube district, western Uganda.
Bugoma, a tropical forest gazetted in 1932, comprises 410 square kilometres of protected area, and a stretch of forest measuring about 40 kilometres. The forest is endowed with unique species of mammals, trees, birds, butterflies and moths. It is also a migratory route for wild animals and a catchment for rivers that drain into Lake Albert, where oil has been discovered.
