Gunmen kill 7 policeman in Rivers – THE AUTHORITY NEWS

May 9, 2021 From Blessing Ibunge, Port Harcourt Seven policeman have been gunned down in a current attack by unknown bandits in Rivers State. The AUTHORITY gathered that the Policemen were killed Friday night at a check point along Choba/Emohua road and Elimgbu, Rumuji police stations. It was learned that the bandits in a Hilux van killed two police officers on duty at the check point along Choba/Emohua road and burnt a vehicle belonging to one of the officers.  In a related development same Friday night,  another group of gangs, attacked the Elimgbu police station, killed three officers. The bandits also attacked Rumuji police station where they killed two officers on duty and burnt a police patrol van.

Insecurity: Gov Wike reacts as gunmen attack police stations, kill 7 officers in Rivers

Daily Post Nigeria Published Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reacted to the recent attacks on police formations and killing of officers in the State. The Governor said the attacks were carried out by those he described as unidentified gunmen, adding that these people “are bent on plunging Nigeria into another unwarranted crisis.” Seven police officers were killed at different points in the State between Friday and Saturday. The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement at the weekend said that the attack which took place at 8:30pm, on Friday was carried out by “unknown gunmen who drove in two branded Hilic vans.”
