One person died after a crash in southeastern Sioux Falls on Thursday morning, police said.
A 40-year-old Sioux Falls man was driving a 2006 Toyota Highlander east on E. 57th Street near Six Mile Road when the vehicle struck a tree, police spokesman Sam Clemens said in a news release. The man died as a result of the crash.
Clemens said no seatbelt was used and that speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.
Release of the man s name is pending family notification, police said.

There are a few areas to expect crews to be working in the Mother Lode the week of April 11 to April 17.
On Hwy 49 in Tuolumne at the 27.3 mile marker Stanislaus River Bridge one-way traffic control will allow for bridge inspection. The inspection is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In Tuolumne on Hwy 108 at mile marker 15.5 and Sierra Road to Bonanza Drive utility work will restrict all traffic. THe work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Crews will perform utility work on Hwy 4 at Six Mile Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday. Motorists should expect 10-minute delays. (Caltrans correction: west of Murphys and Vallecito)
One dead in hit and run outside Plymouth, officials say

SALEM TWP., MI - A person died in a hit and run late Friday night outside Plymouth.
Authorities responded to a traffic accident report just before midnight, Feb. 26 in the area of Pontiac Trail near Six Mile Road in Salem Township, according to the township’s fire department.
Salem Township Fire Chief Jim Rachwal told MLive the person, whose name has not been released, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Michigan State Police and the South Lyon Police Department are investigating the incident, Rachwal said.
The area of Pontiac Trail and Six Mile Road was closed at 12:02 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, according to an alert by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. The Salem Fire Department left the scene at 5:30 a.m., Rachwal said.

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) - Construction crews and the town of Mount Pleasant are putting the finishing touches on a new Fire Station.
The new station on Six Mile Road, will have the most up-to-date facilities of the seven fire stations in Mount Pleasant, according to Deputy Fire Chief Craig Oliverius.
He says a renovation and expansion was much needed. Oliverius says the old building was built about 30 years ago, in a time where this area of Mount Pleasant was much more rural. He says now this is a central area of town.

Gail McClellan, 83, of Tiona, Pa., died Wednesday morning, Feb. 10, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her family, after an illness of the past year. She was born May 30, 1937, in Warren. Gail was the daughter of Dan W. and Margaret Folkman Dorsey, I. She was a resident of Tiona for the past 57 and resided in Warren for one year. Gail was involved for many years with the Mead Township Board of Elections, serving as Judge of Elections for Mead Township, when she retired. She was a member of the Tiona United Methodist Church and served as the church treasurer. She was one of the founders and a member of the Stitch and Bitch Club. She was an avid bowler and loved to read books. Gail was a member of the Clarendon Crafters. During her marriage after the kids were grown, she was a housekeeper at Andreas Motel and was a cafeteria worker at Allegheny Elementary School. Her greatest joys and achievement in her life, was her family, she especially enjoyed taking care
