Duval schools hosts Saturday vaccination clinic for students

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention authorizes the Pfizer vaccine for anyone age 12 and above, Duval County schools will host a vaccine clinic for students Saturday at Sandalwood High School.
Parent or guardian consent is required or anyone 18 or other. The parent or guardian must also be with the student at the vaccine site. Vaccines will not be given to students under the age of 18 if the parent or guardian is not present.
The clinic a partnership between the Florida Department of Health, Health Hero and Duval County Public Schools will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking will be available in the gym parking lot located off Sam Hardwick Road or John Prom Blvd.

The Regency Mall will not only be a COVID-19 testing center but will now be a walk-up vaccination site as well.
The State of Florida will begin COVID-19 vaccines at the Regency Mall starting Wednesday, Jan. 20 for people 65 years of age and older, and healthcare workers.

During your appointment, you must have a photo ID that proves that you’re a Florida resident.
Hurry-up-and-wait was the name of the game again for people converging Wednesday on Regency Square mall in Jacksonville when it became the newest COVID-19 vaccination site.
As that site opened, the state and the city of Jacksonville moved to start winding down vaccinations at three other sites: the Prime Osborn Convention Center in downtown, the Mandarin Senior Center and the Lane Wiley Senior Center on the Westside.
By mid-day Wednesday, about 300 people stood in line to get shots at the Regency Square site, hours after the state began taking appointments by telephone for Florida residents 65 and older and front-line health care workers.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Sunday night concert to see rap artist Toosii perform ended in chaos before it began.
Hundreds of young people and a few of their parents were waiting outside of the venue at Sk8 City Fun Zone in Regency Court Plaza when the event reached capacity.
Excelsior Security Agency, the security company for the property owner, was helping with traffic control and parking lot issues but were told that Sk8 City Fun Zone and the promoter had hired their own security. When the crowd size kept growing and they saw the potential for safety issues, Excelsior senior staff called for the Jacksonville fire marshal at 7:50 p.m. asking for the event to be shut down.
