DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - A GoFundMe account has been established to raise money for the funeral costs of a 12-year-old girl who died in a house fire in Arcadia Tuesday morning after running back inside to save her beloved dog.
The fire broke out just before 3 a.m., at the home on Levsky Avenue. “When we arrived, the house was fully engulfed. The roof was gone [and] fire was blowing out of the windows,” said DeSoto County Fire Chief Chad Jorgensen.

ARCADIA, Fla. (WWSB/Sun Herald) - A teenage girl was killed in a tragic fire in Arcadia on Tuesday morning after officials say she ran back into the burning home to save her dog. The family did have five dogs total.
At approximately 2:53 a.m., DeSoto County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on Levsky Avenue in Arcadia.
The house was engulfed in flames. When crews arrived they were advised that there were possibly two people still inside. Upon investigation, crews found a 13-year-old female who was next to the family dog. Neither the teen nor the dog survived.
