Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 27 : Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President Mullappally Ramachandran said on Wednesday that he would not contest the Assembly elections slated to be held this year.
The former Union Minister of State for Home said that he would instead continue as state party chief and lead the Congress-led UDF to electoral victory, just as it had done by winning 19 of the 20 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 general elections in the state.

New Delhi, Jan 27 : The Opposition is gearing up to formulate a joint strategy to corner the government on the farm laws during the upcoming Budget Session of the Parliament, especially following the violent clashes which broke out between the police and the protesting farmers in the heart of the national capital after the latter s proposed tractor rally on Republic Day went awry.
The joint Opposition meet is set to be convened after the Presidential address and ahead of the presentation of the Budget, though no date has been finalised yet.

Thiruvananthapuram: Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has said that the BJP-RSS combine is ‘destroying’ Indian democracy through wrong policies and administrative measures.
Gehlot was addressing Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee office bearers at the party’s state headquarters here at Indira Bhawan.
Gehlot came down heavily against the central agencies and added that these agencies are dancing to the tune of their political masters. He also said that BJP is the Congress’ main opponent across the country and added that the BJP’s plank of ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ has to be opposed at any cost.
