Several aspects of the Government’s plan to reopen the country are coming under greater scrutiny, with doubts emerging over quarantining plans and vaccination projections.
The scrutiny comes in the wake of the Government’s embarrassing U-turn on the sale of children’s shoes, and growing anger over continued restrictions imposed on maternity hospitals.

Women are more likely to have reduced working hours, suffer job losses, or leave the labour market as a result of Covid-19, the Dáil has heard.
A debate on the impact of the pandemic on women heard of a worrying increase in domestic violence, a jump in referrals of those with eating disorders, and a rise in mental health issues.

Elaine Loughlin, Deputy Political Editor Opposition parties are calling on the Government to come up with a clear Covid plan, claiming lessons have not been learned from the spike in cases over Christmas.
Solidarity-PBP say it is time to implement a zero-Covid strategy, while the Labour Party has urged the Government to adopt their suppression model.
Richard Boyd-Barrett said the rate of infection has come down but is still four times higher than when restrictions were lifted before Christmas and easing measures now would be a disaster .
