The organisers of a now-cancelled Hastings triathlon that 1500 kids have been training for say there is no ability to reschedule it.
The WeetBix Kids Tryathlon was set to run at Mitre 10 Park on Tuesday until Auckland s new community cases of Covid-19 plunged it into level 3 and NZ into level 2.
About 1500 participants had been preparing for the event which was set to be held at Mitre 10 Park in Hastings.
Sanitarium sponsorship manager Nigel Chenery they are very disappointed to be unable to hold the event.

Hawke s Bay s quirky Outfield festival has doubled numbers in its second year and is set to grow, organisers say. The festival was created by four experienced event organisers, three of whom are from Hawke s Bay, who wanted to combine music, arts and food in one Hawke s Bay festival, giving all equal importance.

Organisers of the 2021 Downer New Zealand Masters Games breathed a sigh of relief on Sunday evening, after the week-long event wrapped up an hour after new Covid-19 alert level 2 restrictions were announced. Whanganui Masters Games Trust chairman Leighton Toy said he was really pleased with how the event ran. The whole village environment was really good, but also the support that you get from local businesses and sport co-ordinators was just brilliant, Toy said.
