• Gani Adams vows to protect S’West
Human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), says the order by the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, that herdsmen should leave forest reserves within seven days is legal.
In a statement on Sunday, Falana said the order was in tandem with Section 42 (1) (e) and (g) of the Forestry Law of Ondo State which provided that whoever in any forest reserve, except with the authority in writing of the prescribed officer, digs, cuts, turns or cultivates the soil or makes a farm or plantation; pastures cattle or permits cattle to trespass or trespasses in any part of forest reserves in which trespass shall be prohibited by an order of the governor.

Makinde hails Gani Adams on 3rd installation anniversary

Governor Seyi Makinde, Thursday, congratulated the Aare-Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, on his third installation anniversary.
Makinde in a congratulatory letter delivered by his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, Honourable Akeem Ademola Ige, said: “On this auspicious anniversary of your installation as the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, I congratulate you and yours. You are truly a leader among the leaders and promoter of peace and Yoruba cultural heritage and tradition not only among the Yoruba but across the entire country by your doggedness, forthrightness and knack for truth at all times”.
In a statement, yesterday, by the Secretary, Planning Committee for Pan-Yoruba Summit Conveners, Mr. Adekunle Olayinka, the summit themed, “Yoruba Nation: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” scheduled for Thursday, January 21, 2021, will be virtual to facilitate the participation of wide spectrum of stakeholders in the affairs of Yoruba nation.
According to the statement, the summit, to be declared open by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, will be co-chaired by former Chief of Defence Staff, General Alani Akinrinade, and former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, with Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly as one of the key resource persons. x
