The Summit, according to the Secretary, Planning Committee, Engr. Adekunle Olayinka will deliberate on the prevailing and future socio-political challenges as well as prospects of Yoruba nation.
He said the conference would focus on issues that border on the welfare, security and mutual coexistence of Yoruba people within a peaceful, stable and united Nigeria.
According to him, the summit would be held physically and virtually in strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.
The Summit, to be co-chaired by General Alani Akinrinade, former Chief of Defence Staff and High Chief Rashidi Ladoja and former Governor of Oyo State, will have in attendance present and former governors as well as notable past and present political office holders in the six southwest states of Lagos, Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo.

THERE were torrents of tears especially in the pro-democracy community as Nigeria and the Igbo Nation lost two prominent sons – Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, retd; and Senator Onyeabo Obi.
Ndubuisi Kanu, former military administrator of Imo and Lagos states, former chairman of Ndigbo Lagos and a major pillar of the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, reportedly died of COVID-19 complications in Lagos at the early hours of yesterday.
“Nigeria cannot move forward if we do not restructure into regions.
“If Nigeria is not restructured into regions, the country may break in two to three years because there is no way you can postpone the evil day.”
He, however, expressed optimism that the country would recover from the impact of the COVID-19 in 2021.
Speaking in Lagos during the second edition of the Aare Onakakanfo Christmas Carol, Adams described the year 2020 as “a turbulent year.”
He said the closure of Nigeria’s borders was “a costly mistake” which contributed to the present recession.
He tasked the federal government to put policies in place that would encourage true federalism and better the lives of the populace.

FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, were reported to have met recently in the home of Pa Ayo Adebanjo to reconcile and settle their 15-year-old rift.
But in his reaction, Obasanjo said there was no question of reconciliation because he had no quarrel with Aare Adams that would have warranted reconciliation.
Refuting the reconciliation, Obasanjo said he had no quarrel with Gani Adams but for his past way of life which was not in accord with his standards and principles and that he (Obasanjo) had in the past, both in government and out of it refused to grant Gani Adams’ request to visit him.
