LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - Lake County officials have resumed COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesday after closing this week because they ran out of doses.  Department of Health officials said they received 12,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and began vaccinating again at 9 a.m. at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center. The county was having trouble distributing vaccines all week because they have been waiting for more doses.

Lake County leaders say they’ll be switching from appointment only to first come first serve for COVID-19 vaccines. Health officials were originally having residents 65 and older call the health department to make an appointment for the vaccine, but their phone lines and staff just couldn’t keep up with the high demand.Sign up for our Newsletters They say when they receive their second allotment of vaccines, which is expected toward the end of the week or sometime early next week, they’ll be switching to a first come, first serve basis at their distribution sites in Clermont and Leesburg.
