Employees have options for commuting back to campus 14 May, 2021
As office spaces begin to open and employees slowly return to campus this summer, Colorado State University’s Parking and Transportation Services staff is encouraging alternative commuting and is offering the tools to help.
“We are energized and motivated by the eventual return of our employees to our campuses. We know this has been a challenging year and our employees are thinking about how they want to commute to a post-COVID workplace,” said Aaron Fodge, manager of alternative transportation at CSU.
Fodge said his team has organized a series of events and trainings through the summer to allow employees, at their own pace and comfort, to reengage with campus and begin to make decisions about their commute prior to the start of the 2021-22 academic year.
New shuttle provides Transfort access to the Foothills Campus 04 Feb, 2021
A new Foothills Shuttle service is now running, and it connects the CSU Foothills Campus to a Transfort route for the first time in the history of the campus.
Running four times an hour, the bus makes a loop with stops at the Equine Center on Rampart Road, Engineering Research Center on Laporte Avenue, and the Elizabeth and Overland stop, with connection to Bus Routes 2 and 32, which serves the Lory Student Transit Center.
“This shuttle removes barriers for people participating on that campus as a researcher, employee, or a student taking classes,” said Aaron Fodge, director of alternative transportation at CSU Parking and Transportation Services. “If they didn’t have reliable transportation before, now they have a bus that can connect them to every major building on the campus, while also connecting to all the parking lots.”
CSU recognized nationally as top workplace for commuters 28 Jan, 2021
A free bus pass for every employee. Eleven routes connecting Fort Collins to the on-campus transit center. Over 16,000 bike parking spaces with miles of lanes and trails. Thanks to these transportation perks and more, Colorado State University has been named one of the 2021 Best Workplaces for Commuters.
CSU’s commitment to offering employees commuter benefits like a free bus pass, telecommuting options and an emergency ride home program all work to alleviate barriers for employees getting to and from work. Students also receive transportation benefits, including a Transfort pass on their RamCard and the Around the Horn on-campus shuttle. All members of the CSU community enjoy its Bicycle Friendly University designation, thanks to miles of bike trails, lanes and bicycle parking spaces.
CSU makes changes to Around the Horn schedule 25 Jan, 2021
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect people’s schedules as many CSU students and employees continue to learn and work primarily from home, leading to less activity on campus and an 85% drop in ridership for the on-campus Around the Horn bus route. As a result, Around the Horn is reducing services effective Jan. 25, to adjust to the decreased ridership demand and to protect Transfort drivers and the public from COVID-19.
Horn buses will move to a modified schedule, including going from 10-minute frequency to 20-minute frequency. A reduction in the number of buses transporting per hour will increase wait times, but also decreases face-to-face interactions and potential spread of COVID-19.
