REGINA With some provinces beginning to lift COVID-19 restrictions, the demand for blood donations in the country is increasing. Canada is in need of more blood donors this summer, as hospitals begin procedures that were put on hold throughout the pandemic. Canada-wide, more than 23,000 appointments have been made to receive blood by July 31. Here in Regina, more than 600 appointments need to be filled by the end of the month. “Blood and blood products are needed every single day,” said Aaron Barlow, territory manager of Donor Relations for Canadian Blood Services. “In the summer months, we do see an increase in demand, said Barlow. ”We always need donors coming in to ensure we have a healthy inventory for people needing blood.”

Perched atop this week s list of oldest homes on the market is an exquisitely preserved Colonial in Massachusetts dating to 1690. Right next to the waters of Gloucester Harbor, this beautiful old-timer has been updated in all the right places.
The rest of the week s 10 oldest homes also have a claim to pre-Revolutionary War history, but thanks to strategic face-lifts, many are looking better than ever in 2021.
Teacher Talia Ryan said the most pleasing aspect was that it had been a student-led project, which began a year ago with a proposal presented to a board of trustee meeting which outlined their plan. From there, a consultation with the rest of the school took place to canvas what aspects would make up the ultimate track, with pictures submitted to give a clearer vision of the final product. Requested features included a large wooden platform to drop in on, table-top and berms. An easy line was also put in to allow for riders who were working their way up to expert status.
