ALLEN PARK Dan Campbell isn’t just the Detroit Lions’ new head coach. He also has a 50% say in all roster decisions, along with new general manager Brad Holmes.
Campbell said they weren’t going to waste any time getting to work, and he wasn’t kidding. Just one day after his introductory news conference, the first transaction of the new leadership is in and it’s the addition of another kicker from the University of Central Florida, Matthew Wright. The Lions now lead the league in kickers from UCF, which also happens to be the alma mater of Matt Prater.
Seahawks/Chargers Looking Into Saints QB Coach Joe Lombardi
The New Orleans Saints recently lost a couple of coaches to the Detriot Lions in Dan Campbell and Aaron Glen. Now, according to reports, the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Chargers are looking to poach quarterback coach Joe Lombardi from the Crescent City via Jeff Duncan of the Athletic.
So, there are some ties to L.A. that Lombardi has with Staley, and getting the opportunity to work with either Herbert or Russell Wilson wouldn t be the worst opportunity.
Lombardi broke onto the NFL scenes back in 2006 as a defensive assistant for the Atlanta Falcons, then got the opportunity in 2007 to go over to the other side of the football to be an offensive assistant with the Saints.
This is an awful risk, Lord Vader. This had better work.
The words of Grand Moff Tarkin in
A New Hope have been stuck in my head all day with respect to the Bears season ending press conference featuring a team chairman, president, general manager, and head coach insisting that staying the course was the right decision. And while there isn’t a 1-for-1 comparison to be made here (Tarkin was talking to Vader, who had just let the Millennium Falcon escape safely, with a tracking device in tow, instead of blowing it smithereens, which would’ve destroyed the Princess of Alderaan and cut the head off the rebellion … while the Bears just … you know, held a press conference revealing the security of everybody’s job), I think you get the idea.

I m told #Saints secondary coach Aaron Glenn has informed the #Bears and #Jaguars he is indeed taking the defensive coordinator position with Detroit, per source. I m told the plan is for Glenn to head to Detroit on Saturday. @AdamSchefter reported Glenn s final decision 1st.
Soon-to-be former Saints Secondary Coach Aaron Glenn who was one of nearly a dozen candidates who caught our eye early in the process turned down the Bears to take the Lions’ defensive coordinator gig, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.
