Deadline Detroit | Starkman: Bailing Out at Beaumont -- 2 More Top Execs Bid Bye-Bye To CEO John Fox

Beaumont CEO John Fox Hey, Beaumont Health CEO John Fox: You’re an accountant, I’m a writer, and I’m going to explain your current situation in language so simple that even the numerical side of your brain can easily process and understand. Most of the people working at Michigan’s biggest hospital network just aren’t into you. They never have been. Your first clue should have come in December 2019 when Marc Sakwa, a nationally renowned cardiac surgeon who was beloved by the medical staff, his patients, and the prestigious donors he attracted, resigned and moved to southern California. Unlike yourself, Sakwa was born in the Detroit area and had strong ties to southeastern Michigan. While you maintain that Sakwa left because of revenue sharing issues, multiple people have told me he left because he was disgusted with your leadership.

Window paintings add holiday spirit in Westfort (11 photos)

THUNDER BAY – A group of Westfort shops have come together with a local artist to transform the neighbourhood’s small business district into a winter wonderland. A tradition that started with the former Salsbury Grill was embraced by 15 businesses along the main strip of Frederica Street this year, as artist Wendy Horner adorned shop windows with winter- and Christmas-themed window paintings. Aaron Gillingham, who took over the grill and revamped it as The Sal in 2017, said it was one way the businesses could spread cheer during the COVID-19 pandemic, in lieu of usual holiday gatherings. “It’s been a very challenging year to promote anything – you can’t encourage people to come together as a group, for the safety of our customers and employees,“ he said. “This is a nice way for people to enjoy that Christmas-y vibe without jeopardizing their health.”
