Negative RT-PCR test result from inbound land travelers eyed

April 28, 2021 AS PART of its stricter border control measure, the Davao City Government is planning to require all inbound returning residents and non-essential travelers coming from outside Davao Region who are traveling by land to submit a negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result before entering the city. City Health Office (CHO) Acting Head Dr. Ashley Lopez said in a radio interview on Wednesday, April 28, that the proposed measure was presented during a meeting with the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, where Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio lobbied for additional stricter border control in the city. This came after Covid-19 cases in some parts of the country continued to increase and the recent discovery of new Covid-19 variants in neighboring provinces in Mindanao.

Not all healthcare workers in Davao vaccinated yet

SunStar File photo April 22, 2021 NEARLY two months since the Covid-19 vaccine rollout kicked off in Davao Region early March 2021, the Department of Health-Davao Region (DOH-Davao) said it has yet to finish inoculating some 84,000 priority health workers. Dr. Janis Olavides, DOH-Davao vaccination team leader, said in a virtual presser on Wednesday, April 21, that they are currently finishing vaccinating all frontline healthcare workers, who are covered under Priority Group A1. Naa pa ta sa A1 because ang atong target eligible, dako ang Davao City, daghan kaayo tag healthcare workers (We are still vaccinating those under A1 because there are still a number of eligible healthcare workers who have yet to be vaccinated),” Olavides said in a One Davao on Covid-19 Virtual Presser.
