NEW parents have been urged to ensure their babies are vaccinated as figures revealed dozens could be in danger of catching deadly diseases. By their first birthday, babies should have the six-in-one vaccination which protects them against potentially fatal diseases such as diptheria, polio and whooping cough. However Public Health England figures have revealed that Southend is below the target. The World Health Organisation recommends 95 per cent of babies should have the vaccine, with only 94 per cent of babies jabbed in Southend. As many as 27 eligible babies missed their initial vaccine, however the rate has risen from 93 per cent the year before.
