Pop-up COVID testing at Stark fairgrounds draws 500

The tests were available for free at the second such event at the Stark County Fairgrounds. Canton Health Commissioner James Adams said it went very, very well. He estimated the average wait time to get tested was 30 minutes. Unlike last week, Adams said, no one was in line when testing ended at 3 p.m. We did just fine, he said.

Vehicles queue for COVID testing at the Stark County Fairgrounds

CANTON A line of vehicles on Wertz Avenue NW awaited entrance to the Stark County Fairgrounds from both directions Wednesday. People arrived as early as 7:30 a.m. to get a free COVID-19 test no registration required. Canton City Public Health and the Ohio National Guard partnered with other state and local agencies to host the event. Canton Health Commissioner James Adams said officials closed the gates about 2:30 p.m. when the site reached capacity. The last vehicle left the fairgrounds about 4 p.m., and a total of 661 tests were administered. We appreciate everybody s patience as they work through the process, Adams said.
