Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Thursday decided to convene a special Assembly session against Central government s new farm laws on December 31. The state cabinet has decided to send a recommendation letter to Governor Arif Mohammad once again after it was earlier rejected.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that his government was hopeful that the Governor would accord sanction for the special session. This comes days after Governor Khan declined consent for the Left government in the southern state to convene a one-day session on December 23 to discuss the central laws and express solidarity with the agitating farmers.
NEW DELHI: A special assembly session over the new farm laws has emerged as the latest point of confrontation between the Pinararyi Vijayan-led Kerala government and governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
A day after Pinarayi Vijayan called governor s decision to not accord sanction to convene the special session of the assembly to discuss and pass a resolution against the three contentious farm laws as regrettable , the governor has said he is surprised to see the confidential letter of Pinarayi Vijayan finding space across the media.
The governor expressed his displeasure and said he was pained that the contents of the letter sent by the chief minister, marked as confidential, were available with the media even before it reached him.
