Lagos, Feb. 25, 2021 The Lagos State Government (LASG), Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), and other stakeholders have agreed to adopt a new electronic call-up system for trucks scheduled to commence on Feb. 27.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation and Chairman, Special Traffic Management Enforcement Team, Mr Oluwatoyin Fayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.
Naija247news reports that the electronic call-up system would be based on a first-come-first-served basis.
Fayinka said that the resolution was agreed upon on Thursday after thorough consideration of all parties involved to effectively eliminate the traffic congestion experienced in the state through ports activities.

Lagos, Jan. 28, 2021 The Lagos State Government says it will close the Third Mainland Bridge from Jan. 30 to midnight of Feb. 1.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladehinde, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.
Oladehinde said that the closure was to allow completion of the repair works on the double sized expansion.
“The Third Mainland Bridge will be totally closed to all traffic from Saturday till midnight Monday to enable completion of repair works without any interruption that could be caused by vehicular movement on the bridge.
“The bridge repair works is being done assiduously to ensure that the set deadlines for reopening of the entire bridge are met,” Oladehinde said.

Lagos, Jan. 13, 2021 The Lagos and Ogun states commands of the FRSC jointly impounded 40 vehicles on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday because their occupants did not observe the COVID-19 safety protocols.
A correspondent who monitored the operation codenamed “Wa’ko Jeje’’ (drive gently) reports that the vehicles were impounded on the Mowe-Ibafo sector of the expressway.
NAN reports that most of the commercial buses impounded violated Convid-19 protocol by loading their buses to full capacity with passengers some of whom did not wear nose masks.
The Lagos Sector Commander, Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, said the operation was conducted to reminded motorists about the importance of patience while on the wheel.

Lagos, Dec. 29, 2020 The management of the Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has re-assured the residents of the state of its mandate of providing smart and sustainable bus transportation solutions that will meet their needs in 2021.
Mr Idowu Oguntona, the Managing Director of LBSL, gave the assurance during an End-Of-The-Year stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos on Monday.
Oguntona, however, said that the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic and the #EndSARS protests dealt a great blow to the operations of the company this year.
He said that the company had re-strategised to put the unfortunate incident behind it and work toward the delivery of world class transportation services in the coming year.
