The Grand Forks Growth Fund on Monday, April 19, took steps toward creating a new loan program, one that targets technology start-up companies.
The program, referred to as the Accelerate Loan Program, is based on the state’s Innovation Technology Loan Fund, which acts as a way to provide capital to companies that diversify the state’s economy beyond oil and agriculture. GRAND FORKS – A collaboration between the University of North Dakota Center for Innovation Foundation and the UND Alumni Association & Foundation offer a new tenancy option to North Dakotan entrepreneurs: The Food Incubator.
The Center for Innovation (CFI) Foundation is offering entrepreneur coaching and access to commercial kitchen space to assist food-based entrepreneurs in advancing their business ideas.
“We are excited to expand our entrepreneur services and offer a kitchen incubator in Grand Forks. This project would not have been possible without the collaboration and team at the UND Alumni Association & Foundation,” said Travis Fretheim, the CFI Incubator manager.

Sponsors of InternGF program are looking to build on its past successes by expanding opportunities for local businesses and university students.
Now in its fourth year, the InternGF program will offer two application cycles for funding that businesses can use to create internships. The first cycle opened on Oct. 15 and is for internships that will run from January through August. The second cycle opens June 15 and runs through December 2021. A UND administrator and a developer are the two newest members of a Grand Forks panel that considers public business incentives.
Grand Forks City Council members voted unanimously on Monday, Dec. 21, to appoint Amy Whitney, the director at the university’s Center for Innovation, and Russel Crary, a real estate agent and developer at Crary Real Estate, to the city’s Growth Fund Committee, which gives preliminary consideration to measures that could help businesses set up shop or expand in Grand Forks.
