JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays gymnastics team will host the state tournament this Friday and Saturday.
The Jays have had one of the most successful campaigns in recent memory, taking first in four of their seven meets this year, and finishing second in every meet they did not win. Jamestown has topped top-ranked Dickinson once this season, back on January 21st in Mandan. Julia Skari took home the all-around win on that night, scoring a 36.400.
The individual championships will take place on Friday at 4 pm, and the duals begin Saturday at 1 pm. The Blue Jays took second in the WDA tournament this past weekend in Dickinson, with the Midgets outlasting the Jays 145.500 to 144.125.

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays gymnastics team competed in the WDA Championships on Friday night and took second place with a score of 144.1.
Dickinson was the overall champion at the WDA Championships, just outpacing Jamestown with a 145.5 final score. Dickinson’s Amy Fridley was the overall champion for the meet.
Jamestown did take home first place on the floor, finishing with a 37.475. Blue Jays junior Hayley Nelson finished second in the all-around with a total of 37.250. The state gymnastics meet takes place next Saturday right here in Jamestown.
In addition to the meet yesterday, the WDA also announced the gymnastics coach of the year and WDA senior athlete of the year, and both awards were won by the Blue Jays. Head coach Dave Tews was awarded Coach of the Year in the WDA after leading a young Blue Jay squad to four first-place finishes and two second-place spots throughout the year.
