12-to-15-year-olds are now on the list of those who can get a COVID vaccine. For parents of tweens and teens like Erin Turner, it’s welcome news. First, I am really sick of living the way we do. Second, I believe in the science behind it; if it s good enough for me, it s good enough for my children. And third, these children have already lost out on so much.
The FDA’s emergency authorization of Pfizer’s MRNA vaccine comes after a study of 2,200 showed it was safe and worked as it did in older people. Doctors say there s no evidence this vaccine will affect development or fertility long-term.

CLEVELAND The demand for the COVID-19 vaccine in Ohio has been diminishing during the past few weeks.
As of May 10, the Ohio Department of Health reports that nearly 4.2 million residents have been completely vaccinated, which is roughly 36% of the population.
What about the other 64% of the state? Why aren t more people getting doses with vaccines widely available? Perhaps you have concerns about the effectiveness of the vaccine, side effects, or are worried about vaccinating your children.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The co-author of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology study dealing with the indoor transmission of the coronavirus this week debunked efforts to portray his findings as evidence that social distancing and the wearing of masks have no value.
In an email exchange with cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, MIT Applied Mathematics Professor John Bush, emphatically denied that the study dismisses the importance of maintaining social distances and wearing masks, as some have “oddly and obtusely” inferred.
“Both inferences are wildly off base, dangerous and directly countered by our study,” he wrote.
