AUBURN â We Love Auburn Month activities continue this weekend with ice sculpture demonstrations and display and carriage rides.
Auburnâs Arctic Display will take place at The James Cultural Plaza at 7th and Jackson streets downtown. Ice sculptors from Indiana Ice Studio will be on hand for ice sculpture demonstrations Friday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Sculptures are expected to last approximately 2-6 days, depending on the weather.
Also this weekend, Auburn Main Street is teaming with Visit DeKalb County to offer carriage rides from the DeKalb County Horsemenâs Association. Rides will take place Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 4-6 p.m. Drivers will pick up passengers by The James Cultural Plaza on Jackson Street. Carriage rides will be first come, first served, and freewill donations will be accepted for Auburn Main Street.
AUBURN — Auburn Main Street is selling event T-shirts for its second We Love Auburn Month Pub Crawl, which will take place Saturday, Feb. 27, from 4-10 p.m.
AUBURN â Andrea Kern of Auburn is the new Stellar Communities program director for Indiana, the Office of Community and Rural Affairs said Thursday.
Kern will be responsible for the Stellar Communities Program oversight and coordination, along with helping to establish new programs and initiatives.
Kern formerly served as OCRAâs northeast community liaison for three years. During that time, she assisted numerous communities within 16 northeast Indiana counties accomplish goals, receive grant funding, grow local capacity and community development.
Along with her experience with Stellar Communities designees in the northeast region, her historic preservation and Main Street background will help the agency grow the Stellar Communities Program, while also assisting with creating new programming.
AUBURN â City officials honored Al Wleklinski on Thursday for his 25 years of service on Auburn boards and commissions.
Wleklinski began with an appointment to the Auburn Economic Development Commission and went on to serve two decades on the Board of Zoning Appeals and Plan Commission, presiding over the latter two bodies for many of those years.
The Auburn Board of Public Works and Safety passed a resolution saluting Wleklinski and presented it to him and his family at City Hall.
The resolution also mentions Wleklinskiâs service to several civic and charitable organizations.
âIf there was an opening, and they asked, I went ahead and did it,â Wleklinski said after the ceremony.
