Paterson NJ drug raid: Developer helps take down his tenants

PATERSON When the trail of a narcotics investigation led Paterson police to a 30-unit apartment building at 146 Hamilton Ave., they picked up the phone and asked the owner for help. Soon afterward, detectives on Monday raided an apartment in the building, where a drug ring allegedly stashed its cocaine and heroin, completing a bust that resulted in 15 arrests, police said. As part of the operation, detectives seized a loaded gun, more than 1,000 heroin packets, about 150 vials and baggies of crack cocaine and $8,184 in cash, police said. “I’m always happy to help the police,” said the landlord, Charles Florio, Paterson’s most prominent and prolific real estate investor.
