The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has issued a notification for the resumption of stalled poll procedure to the Man Mandal Parishad and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC, ZPTC) in the state. Accordingly, the new SEC has released an election schedule for the conduct of MPTCs and ZPTCs. Polling will be held on April 8 from 7 am to 5 am wherever necessary. However, a repoll if any will be conducted on April 9 and counting of votes will be held on April 10 from 8 am onwards and results will be declared soon after completion of counting of votes, according to a notification issued on Thursday.

Krishna: The third phase of gram panchayat elections for 12 village mandals in Machilipatnam city of Andhra Pradesh s Krishna district commenced on Wednesday (February 17, 2021) morning at 6.30 am.
The district Collector of Krishna, AMD Imtiaz is supervising the polling process from an election control room and urged voters to exercise their right to vote in a peaceful way, ANI reported.
The election is being held for 196 Sarpanch posts and 1,440 ward members in Machilipatnam division, 29 Sarpanch posts, and 752 ward member positions became unanimous. A total of 2,246 polling stations has been set up.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Principal Secretary Gopal Krishna Dwivedi said in a release on the eve of the election that 26,851 polling stations have been set up under 160 revenue mandals in 13 districts.

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh high court on Sunday lifted the February 6 ‘confinement’ restrictions imposed by the State Election Commission (SEC) on minister P. Ramachandra Reddy for his alleged remarks against it.
Justice D.V.S.S. Somayajulu, while hearing a ‘House Motion’ filed by Reddy against the SEC’s order, however, directed him not to address the media.
