Latest planning round up for Slough, Windsor & Maidenhead - July 17

A WINDSOR office building in the town centre will become new flats - is just one of the many planning applications submitted or determined by Slough Borough Council or the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Change of use from offices to 24 flats at The Regus Group, Gainsborough House, 59 - 60 Thames Street, Windsor (21/01565/CLASSO). Developers were granted permission to convert the four-storey office building in the heart of Windsor town centre into nine one-beds and 15 two-bedroom apartments. Only internal alterations to the block have been proposed to accommodate the 24 flats.

Mr Portillo takes this opportunity, after visiting Ipswich in 2017, to delve into the cultural history of East Anglia in the 1930s between the two great wars.  He comes to Saxmundham by rail so he can visit Leiston - which used to be accessible by train through the old Alderburgh branch - for what he claims is the oldest children’s democracy in the world, Summerhill School, also covered in a recent TV series, and founded in 1921.

New manager at special measures Gainsborough House care home

A CARE home which was recently placed in special measures has appointed a new manager in an effort to drive improvements. A failure to follow coronavirus infection prevention control standards was among the reasons why, along with concerns surrounding the management of risk and medicines, record keeping, and the governance of the care facility. Since the report was published earlier this month, home operator London and Manchester Healthcare has appointed Annette Janvier as the new home manager. In confirming her to the position, the operator says she will be tasked with restoring the home to its previous track record of a good CQC rating, which until recently it had continuously maintained since opening 10 years ago.
